Thames Water seeks an experienced Principal Engineer to lead and build a world-class technical team and modernise key Water Treatment Works across our water network. This is a unique opportunity to work on projects up to a £300 million infrastructure programme, driving cutting-edge engineering solutions that will shape the future of water treatment. As a Principal Engineer, you will plan the design activities for a small portfolio of projects, manage and monitor these activities to meet or outperform project milestones and allocated budgets, and ensure technical assurance of detailed designs by contractors. You will also provide technical support during the commissioning and handover of assets, conduct health and safety inspections, and build strong internal and external stakeholder relationships.

Experience
We are seeking an individual with a degree in civil or mechanical engineering, but are also keen to hear from those who hold degrees or master's degrees in other engineering disciplines. You should have a background in managing successful, relevant activities, e.g., capital projects, and experience in delivering high-quality work with an excellent customer focus.

About you
You will be able to demonstrate your capability with risk-based and analytical decision-making, possess excellent verbal and written skills, and have exceptional interpersonal skills. You should have knowledge and experience in delivering major engineering infrastructure projects up to £100m in value in an infrastructure regulatory environment, along with a background in people management and leading a team.

Qualifications
Hold a chartered status or be working towards it. A valid driving licence and access to personal transportation are required, as this role comes with a £5,800 annual car allowance.
