Hours
38 hours per week, Monday-Friday, 7:30 am - 3:36 pm. Participation in a 24/7 out-of-hours’ standby rota will be required after a suitable period of training and assessment.

Salary
Up to £37,680 per annum, depending on skills and experience. Standby rota payments and overtime opportunities can increase this earning potential by up to a further £8,000-£10,000 per annum upon completion of essential company training.

About the Role
We are currently seeking a Mechanical Technician with hands-on experience to work out of our Northeast London water production sites. You will be carrying out planned maintenance on all our mechanical assets across various sites. This role will involve fault finding, diagnosing, and fixing critical asset failures. You will work on various equipment involved in water transfer within water treatment works and the transmission of water throughout the network, as well as smaller chemical dosing systems. Investigating mechanical plant failures and carrying out repairs as quickly and efficiently as possible to avoid interruptions for our customers is essential. This may involve diagnosing complex faults and carrying out repairs during incidents. You will also provide technical advice to the wider team, referring to up-to-date technical knowledge, and may provide training or support for technical trainees if required.

Requirements

Experience
A time-served apprentice with significant experience in mechanical systems. Experience working on large industrial plant equipment, including various pumps within the utility industry, would be beneficial.

You should be a self-motivated individual who can immerse themselves into the team around them. You need to be disciplined, have the desire to learn from those around you, and possess a can-do attitude. This role can be demanding at times but is very rewarding. You must take ownership of responding quickly to faults, be curious to fully understand the problem, and identify the best solution to resolve it the first time. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are essential to interact with the team. Teamwork is crucial as we are one team with shared end goals. You should be proactive in taking the lead on recommendations and improvements around the site and communicate effectively. Must be prepared to be trained in safety procedures.

Qualifications
NVQ level 3 or equivalent in mechanical engineering qualification is essential. A valid driving license is also required. Knowledge and awareness of health and safety procedures are crucial.
