38 Hours per week, Monday - Friday, 7:30 am – 15:36 pm, plus standby & overtime opportunities

Salary
Up to £39,000 per annum, with potential earnings increase of £8,000-£10,000 through standby rota payments and overtime

About the Role
We are currently recruiting for an experienced Mechanical and Electrical Technician to join our team at Hampton Water Treatment Works. As the successful candidate, you will ensure that all equipment at our water treatment works is running safely and efficiently using proactive and reactive maintenance methods. You will inspect, maintain, fault diagnose, test, install, modify or repair electrical and mechanical plant equipment. Working within the maintenance team, you will follow robust planned maintenance, getting involved in minor installation projects, electrical fault finding, and emergency breakdown repairs to ensure our plant operates all year round.

What you’ll be doing as the Mechanical & Electrical Technician
- Carrying out scheduled planned maintenance work on mechanical and electrical equipment in compliance with company procedures to minimise plant breakdowns.
- Investigating plant failures and carrying out repairs as quickly and efficiently as possible to avoid interruptions to the process.
- Providing technical advice and support for technical trainees if required.
- Working on various pumps and associated control gear, 3 phase motors, starters and controls, electronic control systems, flow, level and pressure measurement, programmable logic controllers, and chemical handling equipment.
- Participating in a standby rota following the relevant training.

Requirements

Experience
You should be a time-served apprentice with significant experience in electrical systems working in a “true multi-skilled” capacity.

About you
Self-motivated individual who can immerse themselves into the team, disciplined, with a desire to learn and a can-do attitude. You should take ownership of responding quickly to faults, have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and be proactive in making recommendations and improvements.

Qualifications
Previous experience in an electrical apprenticeship, ONC/HNC in engineering, NVQ, or C&G level 3 in mechanical engineering with an upskill qualification in mechanical NVQ2/3 is crucial. A valid driving licence is essential, and knowledge of health and safety issues is crucial.
