Waddon Water Treatment Works, Croydon, covering sites across Southwest London including Epsom, Battersea, and Addington.

Hours
Full Time - 38 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 7:30 am – 3:36 pm, plus standby and overtime opportunities.

Salary
Up to £39,000 per annum, depending on skills and experience.

About the Role
We are currently recruiting for a Mechanical and Electrical Technician. The successful candidate will ensure that all equipment at our sites is running safely and efficiently using proactive and reactive maintenance methods. You will inspect, maintain, fault diagnose, test, install, modify, or repair electrical and mechanical plant equipment. Working within the maintenance team, you will follow robust planned maintenance, get involved in minor installation projects, electrical fault finding, and emergency breakdown repairs to ensure our plant operates all year round.

Key Responsibilities
- Carry out scheduled planned maintenance work on mechanical and electrical equipment in compliance with company procedures to minimize plant breakdowns.
- Investigate plant failures and carry out repairs as quickly and efficiently as possible to avoid interruptions to the process.
- Provide technical advice and support for technical trainees if required.
- Work on various equipment including pumps, actuated valves, electronic control systems, and chemical handling equipment.
- Participate in a standby rota following the relevant training.

Requirements

Experience
Significant experience working on mechanical plant and electrical systems, ideally including pumps, actuated valves, and electronic control systems such as VSDs.

About you
Self-motivated individual with a disciplined approach, a desire to learn, and a can-do attitude. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to interact with the team. Proactive in taking the lead on recommendations and improvements around the site.

Qualifications
Previous experience in an electrical apprenticeship, ONC/HNC in engineering, NVQ, or C&G level 3 in mechanical engineering with an upskill qualification in mechanical NVQ2/3 is crucial. Knowledge and awareness of health and safety issues are essential. A valid driving licence is required.
