About the Role
Global Generation is looking for a Youth Programmes Facilitator who is passionate about engaging young people and local communities in reaching their full potential and creating positive social and environmental change. In this role, you will co-lead on the outreach and engagement of local communities, especially with a focus on involving and recruiting young people, as well as planning and facilitation of land-based, cooking and creative workshops. You will particularly focus on working with young people at the Paper Garden in Southwark. As the Youth Programmes Facilitator, you will be outgoing and love to work with children and young people (particularly with 10-18 years old) and reaching out to people across backgrounds and sectors. You will have prior experience of working with schools/community groups, planning and facilitating year-long programmes, and adapting to different abilities and needs. You will enjoy working deeply with young people over a long period, finding out what engages them, building on their interests, and helping them grow and lead within Global Generation and beyond. You will be ready to input creative ideas into the planning stages of the workshops, take initiative, and enjoy finding solutions when faced with challenges and change. You will have a love of urban gardening and/or food growing and engaging people in caring for plants and working with them creatively. You will bring to the team a skill/passion in facilitating a creative practice such as storytelling, movement, acting, signing, ceramics, weaving, textiles, or other. You will also have an interest in action research and/or participatory approaches to learning, acting, and reflecting. You will enjoy working collaboratively with the team in maintaining the site through shared systems and workload. You will be able to communicate your passion for Global Generation’s work in a creative and engaging way, adapting your approach based on where people are at. You will be committed to working with the young people for the rest of the annual year, giving them continuity and support. You will occasionally be available to do ad hoc workshops, assemblies, and careers fairs for recruitment purposes in addition to the day-a-week Facilitator role.
